A day without a Pat Conroy novel is like a day without sun shine.

Finished SOUTH OF BROAD this evening with every emotion stretched, teased, bruised, and pampered. How do you do such extortionistic things with words? (rhetorical) Thank you for picking up a pen to write or learning to type/keyboard. Tomorrow I begin building my Pat Conroy library (one book is not enough). I feel as if this northern woman invaded the South and finally understands a bit more of it: This summer THE HELP and SOUTH OF BROAD - eyes are opened. Until these it was the remarkable TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD. My gratitude extends to whoever talk me to love books for it leads me to marvelous places and people.

Hi, I wish I could tell you how deeply I am moved by your books. I just finished (again) "Beach Music" and prior to that a 3rd reading of "Prince of Tides". I get so sad when I complete one of your stories. I think it's the characters that I miss. I close they book and they're gone.
It was all right when I went from "Prince" to "Beach" but now I am out of your books, I 've read everything.
I'm a writer. One of the things that stops me is that I want to write like you, and of course I can't.
Your stories are amazing. I'm sorry you've gone through such hard times for writing them.
I hope you don't stop. But selfishly that's for my benefit, not yours.
thank you so much, and happy impending 65th.
Carol

Dear Mr. Conroy,
Over the past year I have had to do alot of soul searching and facing up to life since my Dad was diagnosed with dementia. I have found it difficult to concentrate and let myself escape into the world of books that I so love. This week on vacation, I finally was able to open up South of Broad and finish it in under a week. As always... EXCELLENT! I think it is my favorite of all of your books.
I lived in Savannah for 18 years and miss it terribly somedays. Charlestonians as well as Savannanians are a class of Americans all to themselves and I miss them.
Thank you for letting the world know about them and the most beautiful part of the Southern USA.
Sincerely,
Lynn

Dear Pat,

I am reading again. It has been many years since my divorce and I finally have the real desire to connect with a book. It has been so long since my concentration has been able to handle an outside thought. I have read a few of your books, and I am so looking forward to your new book "South of Broad". Currently, starting on Chapter 1. I will let you know how this journey goes. Wish me luck. Lind

Pat Conroy changed my life! You opened my heart & mind to reading again when my sister introduced me to Prince of Tides. I was too interested in other things & thought reading a bore - but you proved otherwise. I've since devoured every word you've written & I am blessed as a result. I had just finished S of Broad before heading to Charleston last summer - & I fell head over heels in love w/the city thru your eyes/ words. I plan to get to Fripp & Beaufort next to meet you & your family - we can dream, right? So sorry to hear about your medical issues, but as someone who also has subsidized many physicians' lifestyles, I have learned that faith, humor & hope are necessary as is tenacity to be your own advocate. You are in my prayers for full recovery & abundance of blessed life.

I just finished South of Broad and it was like drinking a fine bottle of wine on a cool Charleston night; I savored every word and wanted more at the end. I adore your voice.

I took Pat's advice and bought "Red Hook Road" and I am lost in reading this wonderful book.
Thanks for the book suggestion Pat!
