I gasped with delight when I discovered your latest novel on our way to our favorite Oregon beach this week. I read it nonstop with such pleasure. Thank you so much. I have tried with little success to describe the culture of the South to my Pacific Northwest children. Your beautiful words describe so well the traditions and the beauty of my family's place of origin. Although I am a Westerner geographically, my family's roots are Southern and your books take me "home." Best wishes for your continued success and a long, contented life.

I have just completed South of Broad. Pat Conroy is the most brilliant southern writer of our generation, possibly ever. You are a truly gifted author. Please do not wait another 14 years to amaze us with your gift.

Have been reading Beach Music every August since purchasing it on Fripp during a family vacation. Picked up South of Broad this weekend, anticipating another great Conroy book. Thanks for years of enjoyment, you're the tops!

I am a huge fan and a pathetic re reader of every book you have ever written with Lord of Discipline being my hands down favorite book and favorite first line. I just finished South of Broad having started it last night, and I liked it. Thank you for writing again, I have missed your words. I don't have many characters left so thank you.

I just finished your South Broad. I wish I had the description of words the way you do. All I can say is Thank You so much. The ending was so great. Pat, everything you touch with a pen turns to Party. My friend please do not ever stop writing, this was a long 14 years. Mr. Conroy if there were Oscars for Books you would not have enough space to put them. Bless You. JoAnna

SOUTH OF BROAD just arrived yesterday and by page 40 I wanted to tell you how much I love it and am so grateful you've written again! Have enjoyed reading your wife's books [all of them] and have been a fan of Anne Rivers Siddons since PEACHTREE ROAD!

I would never dream of telling YOU how to write a book! You have the most beautiful prose! I love how you phrase your words. Having been through a divorce, I cracked up when you described it as part self evisceration and part auto de fay! No one would get that unless they've been through it!
Glad to have you back! Also loved that one of the reviewers called you a great American novelist! Knowing your life~that has to warm your heart!

Loved South of Broad as much as I have all your books. Do hope you will write another one soon! Heard you speak once in Dallas at a Mental Health luncheon and enjoyed your talk so much. Thank you.

Only 700 characters? not enough room to tell you all that is in my heart Mr. Conroy. You are one of my idols, along with Schweitzer, Gandhi, Gibran and Faulkner. In fact, you seem to have that same urgency to write as Faulkner. I would like to be your pen pal, I would love to give you food for your next book, I simply adore you Mr Conroy and Prince of Tides is probably my favorite of your books. It brought my husband and I together yes, but it also tore open my soul and put it back together again, never to be the same. Much love to you and your family, Pat.
Thanks for another stunning work of literature - I'm almost done - wish I had a friend like Toad.

I for one LOVED your new book, just as I have loved EVERY one. You are like a fine wine - you get better with time. I drove to Beaufort to prepurchase, but couldn't wait so I bought another copy to read the day it was released. (Still looking forward to getting my "signed" copy that is coming from Beaufort). I guess it didn't hurt that I also love Charleston! I dream of the day I meet you and Cassandra. Maybe one day when I'm at the Shrimp Shack????? Never hurts to dream!! Thank you for the enrichment of my life that comes with each book you write.

Thank you for your new novel, SOUTH OF BROAD. I've been waiting 14 years, since BEACH MUSIC. I will re-read this book, as I have done the others. There is less poetry in this one and more reality, I feel. Guess that's what happens when we all grow older. You and your friend Anne Rivers Siddons are my faves, not to mention Ms. Margaret Mitchell's epic. I think Southern writers capture places better than any others. Maybe sometime I'll visit beautiful Charleston.
