I am grieved to learn of the passing of Pat Conroy. An author whose work is loved by so many is like a friend who you hope will live forever. Sadly, that cannot be and Pat Conroy has left us, his extended literary family. He will be sorely missed, but his works will live on forever. My deepest condolences to his close friends and family. RIP!

Pat,

I heard this morning that you were gone. You did not know me, but I knew you. I have admired you and enjoyed your work since I was a kid. "The Lords of Discipline" led me to attend The Citadel Summer Camp and later military school from 8th grade to 12th. I have admired your honesty and your courage in standing up for those who could not always stand up for themselves. I've been to your classroom on Daufuskee Island more than once. In fact, I can see Daufuskee from where I live on Tybee Island and I think of you every time I do. You were a literary treasure. Your presence as a man and your beautiful and stirring work will be greatly missed. Godspeed Pat Conroy. You were loved by so many and you will never be forgotten.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Mr. Conroy's passing. I had only recently found out about his illness and just today (3/5) heard of his death. Mr. Conroy was one of my most favorite writers, and I always looked forward to his newest release. I will miss his beautiful prose more than I can say. Please accept my deepest sympathies.

I am that person who struggles to start (and finish) a book. I'd always wait until the last possible hour to do reading assignments, reading just wasn't "it" for me. When I was in college, my dear friend Todd said I "HAD" to read this book. I protested, but I gave it a shot. It painted scenery like no other book I had ever read. I was staying up late reading and talking about it over the phone with him. It was magical. It solidified my love for the coast. It gave me my daughter's name. It is with me every time I cross a causeway and head to salt water. It is part of who I am today.

Thank you Pat Conroy. The Prince of Tides will always be special to me. Rest in peace.

It was with great sadness I learned of Pat Conroy's passing today. It's like losing a good friend. No author has brought me to tears and laughter more. No writer has touched me more deeply and I will miss his stories and his magnificent prose. My life was richer because of Pat Conroy's writing. Thank you Pat. Rest well and may God bless and comfort your family and loved ones.

Bless your Life, your work, your fine & perfect Self. You changed my life with your works...for the better. I bless the compassion with which you handled all that comes of a dysfunction from others who raise us. I am sad for your loss and wish that there might be one small thing you need to come back again to do Right. Such is the Life of a buddha on the road, who you surely are in my heart and soul. See you when I get there, and thank you. My library, my life is filled with you. RIP Pat Conroy...my thoughts with your family and your family of devoted readers and followers. For us? You are Perfect. Amen. love, Ellen
