Hi Pat,
Spending my high school years in Aiken, SC and going to USC have allowed me to feel like an initimate friend of your central characters. My mother was a professor at the University of South Carolina - Aiken and had the pleasure of meeting you many years ago. I became an instant fan and have since read all of your books. Thank you so much for reminding me why I loved growing up in SC. I feel like we both lived in the same neighborhood and hope I get to see you at a book signing in the Tampa Bay area one day. I lookforward to your next work of art!!

My book group , The Ladies of Asbury Park, meets this afternoon at 4:00PM to discuss South of Broad. Thank you for filling our gloomy winter days with your carefully drawn characters and a plot which made us hate to turn that last page. I'm going to take a photo of our group and send it to your site. Thanks so,so much.

Having moved from N.C. to Colorado recently has taken me out of that southern element that I used to feel so comfortable in. The move has allowed me to observe that sticky-sweet culture from an outsiders perspective, and while I can get caught up in judgement, I can also open up a Pat Conroy book and immediatly remember what charmed me so much about that soft, temperate region. From the sight of backwater cypress trees to the taste of tomato sandwiches on white bread with mayo. It is a truly wonderful thing to fall in love your homeland all over again. Thank you Mr. Conroy for your words!

Dear Mr. Conroy,
I have been a fan of yours for many years and have read all of your books. I am an English teacher (retired but still tutoring) and am always amazed at your command of the English language. My fantasy dream has always been to work with you to write my novel, based on the facts of an unusual life that contains all the trials, secrets and challenges in life that you write about. I've met with several authors and they all encourage me, but you are my all time favorite. I wish I could share my story with you because it would make an incredible novel. Thank you for sharing your genius.

I am in Hilton Head right now and called MEW in St. Louis on
the offchance she could give me your number. She didn't, but
mentioned this website. I'm the male partner in Operation
Footlocker and would really love to get in touch with you. You
are a great writer and have done wonders for your brother and
sister military brats.

I just finished SOB and I loved it. I am an aspiring novelist, and while your writing makes me feel helplessly inadequate it also inspires me. None of your characters are secondary. I know them all and love most of them. Your passion and love come through in your words. You have an amazing gift and I hope you continue to use it. If I make money publishing my book, I am going to Charleston, which has been in my dreams ever since Lords of Discipline and is now permanently entrenched. God bless.

The Marines would be honored if you would consent to be the keynote speaker at our first annual joint collegiate graduation and recognition ceremony. I am the education services officer for the local USMC installations in SC.

I just watched the news and it is the 50th Anniversary of
the sit in in Greensboro at Woolworths. I guess we were in
Greensboro 50 years ago today, you to play basketball for
Sacred Heart and me to cheer the team on. Doesn't seem
possible it was that long ago.

Read, with delight, SOB. Spent 4 years there at the Naval Hospital. You have captured all that is good, bad, and delightful about that unique Civilization. Thank you for the pleasure of this moral and amoral tale. These old eyes misted many times from the memories. Dr Al
