I am in Hilton Head right now and called MEW in St. Louis on
the offchance she could give me your number. She didn't, but
mentioned this website. I'm the male partner in Operation
Footlocker and would really love to get in touch with you. You
are a great writer and have done wonders for your brother and
sister military brats.

I just finished SOB and I loved it. I am an aspiring novelist, and while your writing makes me feel helplessly inadequate it also inspires me. None of your characters are secondary. I know them all and love most of them. Your passion and love come through in your words. You have an amazing gift and I hope you continue to use it. If I make money publishing my book, I am going to Charleston, which has been in my dreams ever since Lords of Discipline and is now permanently entrenched. God bless.

The Marines would be honored if you would consent to be the keynote speaker at our first annual joint collegiate graduation and recognition ceremony. I am the education services officer for the local USMC installations in SC.

I just watched the news and it is the 50th Anniversary of
the sit in in Greensboro at Woolworths. I guess we were in
Greensboro 50 years ago today, you to play basketball for
Sacred Heart and me to cheer the team on. Doesn't seem
possible it was that long ago.

Read, with delight, SOB. Spent 4 years there at the Naval Hospital. You have captured all that is good, bad, and delightful about that unique Civilization. Thank you for the pleasure of this moral and amoral tale. These old eyes misted many times from the memories. Dr Al

Mr. Conroy,

I have loved your books since I was in 7th grade. I just finished "South of Broad." I relate so much to the themes of your novels...and I was raised Catholic...and I love Charleston...and I love to write. Thank you for the beautiful stories you share.

Lindie

Mr. Conroy,

I just finished the audio version of "South of Broad" and I must tell you how much I absolutely loved this book. As I commute between Maryland and SC often, audio books are my friend and yours ranks up there as #1.

I loved all your characters, except Chad of course, loved knowing the settings as I've been to Charleston many times.

Thanks for an excellent read, well, listen.

Dear Mr. Conroy,
I fell in love with South Carolina years ago, when my husband described his childhood hunting for blue crabs on the beaches of Bluffton. I have yet to visit, we never had money for a honeymoon there, but know in my heart it is the home I have always longed for. My father-in-law saw me reading the Water is Wide, and said he knew your father when he was in the Marines years ago. I just finished South of Broad, a gift from my husband, who does not yet know how deeply your novel touched me. I have never before written to an author, but somehow, with your connection to South Carolina, and the military, and your deeply touching stories, I felt compelled to complement your work.
Sincerely,
Marissa Hopkins

P.S. I probably made a lot of grammar errors and worded things awkwardly, I'm not very good at those sort of things.
But then again, you weren't very good at making long shots ;)
