Hi Pat, I have been a loyal fan since I first read Prince of Tides. I am an avid reader, and had never read anything so moving. I have read all your books, incl The Boo and South of Broad. Please, please write something again soon. Have yet to find another author whose words fill me with so much emotion. My aim is to get to the south and see all the lovely places you speak of. Thank you, Pat.

What can I say about Pat Conroy's book?, Each one of his novel are fiiled with wisdome and a lot of feeling. I can't help to feel so overwhelming every time I finish to read each one of his books, the way he writes can touch the very inner and so deep in my heart and soul...My golden dream is to meet him someday and shake his hand and talk about the real meaning of life. I'm working on it! ; hopefully I'll thank him for give me so much pleasure and joy to my heart and soul. God Bless you Pat Conroy!!!

I wept when I read of your near 'purchase of the farm' of this past August... I pray that you are blessed with many more years of your incredible gift of articulation. I didn't know that I could taste the salt from the waters just by the way someone writes... nor smell magnolias in the sweetest of sweet, before ever experiencing one for the first time... your gift is magnificent and may it be present for so many of us, for years to come. I am so selfish!

I am amazed that anyone can write this well. South of Broad was at least as good as Pat's other books. My reaction upon completing this novel was to begin again.

Pat,
Your description of Starla in South of Broad as one afflicted with BPD is so accurate, it appears you might have first hand knowledge. I especially appreciated the passage about the job of one with BPD is to make everyone around them miserable. Is it possible you had one like that? I've had one for 37 years. Is there really no hope?

I just finished South of Broad and just loved it, thank you. Beach Music is still my all time favorite book. Thank you again and I wish you peace and happiness.

I have read all your books and was delighted to see a new novel after so many years. I have been a fan since reading The Boo, and you just keep getting better with time. I am an avid reader and follow several authors, but your gifted use of language clearly elevates you far above popular fiction and into the realm of fine literature. There is a true poetic quality to your writing. As I read through your work, I often am compelled to re-read several lines, because I simply cannot believe how beautiful the images are that you are capable of creating. I can certainly appreciate the time it must take to produce such art, but I can only hope that it will not take another 14 years before I can devour your next novel. You have a great gift, and thank you for sharing it.

I hope that fourteen years does not elapse before the next book. I even read the cook books and basketball books because I love your use of the English language. As with many of your readers, I have known Beaufort and Charleston. One of my favorite images is the young green marsh grass growing up through the old canes in spring.
Your writing takes me there.

I just finished "South Of Broad" and I have to admit, this was one of the easiest reading books I have ever read. It was also the first one of your books for me. I am hooked! I just started "The Lords Of Discipline" which is one that my father told me was a fine book. You are one great writer, Mr. Conroy, and you have made my reading so much more enjoyable. Thank you for opening new doors to me. I can't wait to visit Charleston, South Carolina... sounds like a good road trip.

Dear Mr. Conroy,

I have just completed reading your latest book,"South of Broad", and must tell you that it is one of the most engrossing books that I have ever read. I have traveled over a good deal of the world and heard many good things about Charleston but have never had the pleasure of visiting your city. I must tell you that after reading your book, I must add it to my list of places to see. If there are characters as rich as the ones developed in your book, I can't wait to meet some of them.
I could almost smell the magnolias while reading. Thank you so much for enriching my vacation spent on the island of St. Vincent in the Grenadines. I look forward to your next book.
