I reread Beach Music several times a year (my Favorite Book of All Time) and found myself tearing up as I read about about Leah and Lucy's love of the sea turtles in light of the gulf oil spill. I wondered to myself if you were particularly devastated for the marine life you have lovingly described in your novels, because I'm finding that I definitely am as a result of your books.

I sincerely hope you visit DC someday, I would probably faint if I got a chance to meet you but it would be worth it.

I love your writing, Mr. Conroy! It takes me back home to South Carolina in both atmospheric & wonderful ways and also deep & moving ways. I took the day off when South Of Broad released, went as soon as the bookstore opened to buy it and sat immediately down into a bookstore chair and started reading. Thank you for sharing your talent with us!

Have always been a big fan and met you one night when we had dinner at my brother in laws in Maryland-a big thrill for me! Looking forward to your new book. Take care of yourself Pat. The world needs your imagination!

Just finished SOUTH OF BROAD. As with all of your books, I found myself crying tears of joy and sorrow. Loved every word on every page. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Cher Monsieur Conroy,
De mon mauvais anglais je vais tenter de vous exprimer ma reconnaissance:
A friend of mine recommanded me to read "The Prince of tides" last year.. one year later I've almost read all of your books, i bought today your first one "The Great Santini" and I confess that i'm excited and sad at the same time because I know, it 's gonna be the last one (for the moment)!!! You make me laugh and make me cry and thanks to you I really want to visit South Carolina! You can be sure that all of my friends read you too and join me in the pleasure of reading your books.

Merci beaucoup!

Audrey (Paris)

Dear Pat,

We met when you lived in Rome. You gave me a copy of Prince of Tides that had just come out-

Wonder if you remember me. Emily and Greg went to school with my daughter Francesca.

All the best,
Andrea

Your way with words captures me from the get go. I just started South of Broad. While reading your description of Charleston, I felt like I may have looked like Lucy in the film version of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe as she enters Narnia for the first time--full of wonder. I share your enthusiasm for this beautiful city. I will be facilitating a discussion of South of Broad at the September meeting of our community's Chapter 13 book club. Will take a picture at this meeting of Chapter 13 to add to your pictures of other fans. Thank you for exercising the discipline of writing, so many of us can enjoy your remarkable gift.

has served you well.

I read all of PC´s Books. My favorites are "Prince of Tides" and "Beach Music".
With "South of Broad" I needed some time to really get captured, but when I was it was completely.
A very lively description of the characters and a homage to Charleston which made me curious to to visit it once.
The book is much AMERICAN, but it can touch the heart of a 66-years-old-German.
Knowing all your books one can detect a lot of PC -his suffering and rebirth-in the book.
Your face shows you much happier in the cover of "South of Broad" than in "My loosing season".
With "South of Broad" you seem to have overcome the devils inside of you, as Herrmann Hesse did with "Steppenwolf".
Congratulations to you and your wife, who seems to play a big role in that process.
