The Pat Conroy family has been on my mind since I heard the news of his passing. What an impact he had on thousands of lives. I love his books--- his story lines and the captivating sentence structures which always have me mentally diagramming those delicious sentences. The reader not only can see the locations depicted in his books, we can feel the emotions of the characters. I had the pleasure of meeting Pat at the Newberry Opera House in April. I waited in line for 90 minutes for him to sign my book. When my turn came, he was as cordial as if I was the first in that long line. I truly appreciated that. May God comfort your family. We, his devoted readers, will miss him.

I live in Israel since 1973 on a kibbutz. So I missed a lot of happenings in the US. I was introduced to Pat Conroy with his book Beach Music through my book club. I loved the book with all my being. I loved his lyrical writing. His story helped me feel less alone. So sorry to hear about his illness and death. He will be greatly missed.

My heartfelt condolences to Mr. Conroy's family and friends. I was shocked and saddened to hear the news that one of my favorite authors has passed. Thank you Pat for your talent to spin an incredible story and thanks for sharing it with the world. You have touched many lives and one of them was mine.

To Pat Conroy's family, your loss is shared worldwide. I am 47 years of age and I still vividly remember the day that Pat spoke at my small high school graduation in Rome, Italy. Although he was already a favorite author of mine at the time, I realized then that his unique power of connection and expression wasn't limited to the written word. How lucky I was to experience his gift for lyrical honest storytelling first-hand. His voice will be missed.

I cannot believe you are gone. My life paralleled yours with the abusive Marine father and the other demons you lived with. Your books helped me come to terms with my own life. My heart breaks for your family and your many friends. You are well loved.

To Pat Conroy's family. Such sad news, such a huge loss. I own and have read every single book he wrote. Always my favorite place on the bookshelf, now a treasured spot. Find peace in the knowledge that he was loved and admired by so very many. He shall not be forgotten. What a legacy he has left us.

I have been devastated with grief today as I feel like I lost a best friend. I wish I could have told you in person how Beach Music saved my life during a severe depression in 1998. Your beautiful writing soothed me when I was trapped in the caverns of my own mind. Again, when I hospitalized myself in 2001 and I had The Prince of Tides with me. Your books are a go to when I need comfort and need to feel less alone in world. Rest in Peace Dear Prince of Words. The world is more beautiful because of you.

I am so sad. He is my very favorite author. I've read the Prince of Tides dozens of times. He made pain into poetry.

I am in tears writing this comment. You, sir, made such an impact on my life and my world. I hope and pray for the family, the world has lost the best writer. You made me laugh and cry, you made me smell the marsh and the cooking. I loved you then and I will always love you and cherish what you gave to my life. I'm just so sad that you're gone. You were, and always be, the best to me. To the family, I am so sorry for your loss. God bless and keep you.
With all the love I have, Cassie.
