I have felt for a long time that Beach Music was the best book I had ever read. I just finished South of Broad and savored every word I read. I would read only a chapter at a time so I could savor the book and have it last as much as I wanted to continue reading and not want it to end. Thank you Pat Conroy for your incredible characters and for making me feel like I am in your city. Please don't wait another long time to write again.

My introduction into your amazing world of writing was Beach Music. I was in love with all the characters and actually put the book down while reading it to make it last longer. I had never done that before as I tend to race through the books I read. I then went out and bought your other books and enjoyed them slowly, lingering over the pages. South of Broad was equally captivating and I once again fell in love with your characters. Thank you for sharing your gift with us. Our family vacation spot is Folly Beach, which my daughter picked at random several years ago, and when I can't get there, your books take me to South Carolina, a place we have learned to love.

"South of Broad" is the first of your books that I have read, but it will not be the last. I have "Prince of Tides" on my nightstand and I plan to read them all. They are what I learned to read for.

When I read your books it is not necessarily for the story, but your use of words which interweave to illustrate and describe events and ideals and feelings in a way I never could. I never rush through your books, but rather read slowly so as to assimilate your beautiful narrative. When I come to the end of your story, I feel as if I have lost friends of my own. Never stop writing. Thank you for the great pleasure you have given me.

Your book amde me want to read more about the South, which I still do today, and to purchase every book you have written. PLEASE keep telling us what we are afaraid to admit and don't want to remember. You are only 1 year younger then I so I can appreciate what you tell us. Thanks SO much for being you!!!

Mr. Conroy, you brought me back to myself with the Prince of Tides. I cannot even begin to explain how this book helped heal and change my life. Coming from a home with an abusive, mentally ill mother, your masterpiece resonated with my soul and heart. You are a kindred spirit to all of us unspeakably tortured children of familial abuse. I thank you!

I've read everything from "The Boo" to "Beach Music", which I am working on now. I had put it down, but now feel a renewed sense to finish. I have thoroughly enjoyed all of the PC novels to date. I put off reading TWIW until I picked it for an education foundations course. Thank you Pat Conroy for this wealth of insight into the atypical southern family. Keep it coming.
