Mr. Conroy,
I recently attended the Miami International Book Fair and had the privilage of hearing you speak. I was impressed by your presence, sincerity and sense of humor. Having read all of your books, my appreciation for your work was significant. I left the book fair with a higher respect and admiration than I already had. I crave to read your words on a daily basis and I thank you for sharing your incredible talents with the world.

My sister insisted to buy a translated copy to Spanish from your book: Beach Music. It was rare to find this book in a Managua bookstore. After The Prince ot Tides, the movie, until two years ago had this book, Beach Music, that came to my life in hard times and refresh me.
I was amazed with all the book. When I was commenting my mom and sister, also readers, I may say to you, that book is a 'tribute to love' and 'offer respect to suffering and struggles in life'. I felt so identified with many parts of the book and read it for two times now. Unfortunately, here in Managua we don't find your books.
Many parts of the book are amazing: life in Rome, the cooking, etc. I was fascinated . Go on, you give readers a lot

I am reading my first Pat Conroy book (My Losing Season) and man, is it great! I can't wait to read all the rest of your books.

I'm a basketball fan and was drawn to a sports book that DIDN'T tell the story of another "magical season".

Pat, you've done an incredible job taking us into that world. I love it and hate it at the same time! It's fabulous.

Thanks for sharing your gifts with us Pat.

Monsieur Conroy, I'm a french woman who fall deeply in love with the South when I came to study at tulane in New Orleans with a scholarship 25 years ago. Ever since I've been a big fan of southerner novels. But my biggest reading emotion came from The Prince of Tides : for the very first time, I cried over a written story. That was 15 years ago and ever since I've been waiting for your novels with a lot of impatience. The Prince of tides is n°1 in my top list and I thing that so far I've given it as a present 50 times ! Merci beaucoup Monsieur Conroy et continuez à nous faire rêver ainsi.

I am a Southern "Wannabe". Born and bred in the North (NJ), I have been enamored with all things Southern ever since reading Gone With The Wind in High School. There are so many Southern writers I love but I have read more of Pat Conroy's works than most others. The Prince of Tides remains one of my all time favorite books, with Beach Music close behind. I read South of Broad and at present, the audio edition of My Reading Life is playing in my car. I am charmed and tortured by yours books. Like you, Pat, language feeds my soul. I wish I had met someone like Gene Norris in my early years. In My Reading Life, someone told you that it is always best for the writer of a book NOT to be its reader, yet you are the reader. Why so?

I read The Great Santini as a senior in high school and I thought "he wrote about me and my dad". Thirty years later, I taught this book to High schoolers and thought "He wrote a book about me and my son"!
I have been hooked on your writing since I was 18. Thanks

Pat, I am halfway through My Reading life. I must say, this book helps me know you better. The Water is Wide was one of the first novels I remember reading as a young, uneducated mountain girl. Since then I read all the time. I have read all of your books and love them all. I also love all of Cassandra's and Annie's. I am inspired by your work and hope to write my own novel someday. Your work influences many!

800 characters are not enough. I am not a southerner, but a reader and writer and it's as if you write for me, about me, to instruct me, etc. One thing that always amazes and pleases me is that you don't "dumb down" the language. Sometimes I need the dictionary and I revel in that. Your work educates, entertains and it causes deep reflection.
