Your name came up at brunch today when me and a close friend discovered you were both our favorite contemporary author. We are very glad you are writing again. Please let us (me) know if you ever come to Prague, we do have an annual writer's festival. In deep appreciation and gratitude for your talent, skill and dedication as a writer.

Hi Pat,
I am on the thirteenth chapter in the book South of Broad and I am glad to have had a good chuckle at the way Leo talks to his mother for example. This is the first book I am reading of yours in this sudden binge of fictional reading and journal writing I have been doing for the past four years. Before that it was nil. I joined the book club, even though I rarely attend, I love to read the short stories like The Veldt in the anthologies the group reads from at times. All this is from me being an unemployed carpenter. One day I will write a good fiction book. I heard about your disability. Just kidding. After looking at the regulars type so fast at the library here, I figured that I would only use some of the typing skills I learned in high school and fudge the rest got to go.

My wife and I read your books to each other, and visited our daughter in Charleston last Spring. We walked SOB, and loved it. We also paid our respect at your father's grave sight. Looking forward to reading "My Reading Life". Going to buy it today. My favorite book is "My losing Season" I played ball in Northern Virgina, Beckley College, and for the Myrtle Beach AFB team.
Thanks for the memories, Pat.

Dear Mr. Conroy:
I was reviewing the locations you would be visiting to promote your latest book. I'd like to invite you to come visit Seattle again.
You have a league of ardent fans in the region. I was lucky enough to see you, at the Elliott Bay Boostore event, the last time you visited the Pacific NW. It was a wonderous expereince and all who attended benefited from your southern charm.
My desire is that you will return soon. You could enjoy our Pacific NW culutre; partake of good coffee; wait for the clouds to part and show off our vast vista of mountains; enjoy a ferry ride across Elliott Bay.
Plus spend time with your fans who above all appreciate your books and you.

Blessings to you and yours,

Loretta

Hi Pat,
Great friend of Steve Powers ... and Johnny Kemper. Graduated with them-Classof1968-VMI. Pat I love your gift ... you do write from the heart. I wish more men gave of themselves; i.e., the intensity of feelings that you have. I appreciate all of your books, though my favorite is Beach Music.
Best to you ... and stay in good health ... we need you.
Best, Frank Pinizzotto

I absolutely love Beach Music. I read it many moons ago and have often said it's my favorite book. I just found a copy and am going to read it again - finally! There is something about the way you tell the lives of real people but intertwine them in a way no one else knows how. As a fellow Catholic, now also living in the South, I also love your snippets of growing up Catholic in the South!! Going to check out your events. Sure hope since I am kind of "nearby" that there will be an opportunity to attend one of your events. Going to check out the "Events" now.

I got hooked on your prose by reading your most recent book. Then from there I went to our Half Price Books here and bought "The Water Is Wide" (which I finished last night) and The Prince Of Tides (which I'm starting today). Still searching for "The Lords of Disicipline." "Beach Music" was wonderful as well. You are a gifted writer, Mr. Conroy. I have a journalism degree from the Piney Woods of Nacogdoches, Texas. My brain is trained to write news stories. I wish I could be HALF the writer that you are! Please don't stop writing either!! We Conroy fans will hunger for more books from you!!

I have read every one of your books and loved them all. You were in my ex husband's english class at the Citadel. He was in November company. I have been to a couple of reunions but never saw you to have you sign a book. I am not married to Mr. Bowley anymore, (vietnam vet). But I truly look forward to any new writing from you. I do remember in the 60s being at a senior party at Folly Beach Pier roaming around to the music of the Tams!!! Great memories,,,; - )
Thank You for giving me the pleasure of enjoying your writing. The first book I read was "The Water is Wide" ( it is a great song as well and so fits the story). I was truly inspired because I was and still am an inner city teacher. I have been told lots of stories about the "Boo" and got to meet him at a reunion.
