First became aware of you when the priest of at my parish church, as part of a weekly discussion in a class, suggested that each of us read South of Broad. Since then I have read almost all of your books and now am reading The Water is Wide. I love your books and intend to read them all at least once.

Dear Pat,
I read "Beach Music" when it first came out and thought it was one of the best books I had ever read. I am now rereading it and it is amazingly still fresh and new. Sixteen years later and I think it is still one of the best! You are a master storyteller and know dysfunctional families better than anyone!
How about a follow up on Leah?
Debbie

Hello Pat,

I am an Italian author and I started reading your books after I saw The Prince of Tides movie. They comfort me so. I never thought I would hope my bus to work took longer than 1 hour so I could keep reading a novel. Or that a novel had to power to make me happy about travelling on a bus for ages on a Monday morning. I read them avidly and with love for your language, for the feelings you put on the page. I hunger for more of them. And I made the coconut cake from your cooking book, which was a success! And now I'm obsessed about visiting South Carolina. Thank you, very, very much.
Monica :)

I spent a wonderful evening listening to you share amazing stories from your life when you did a book signing at Garden District Books in New Orleans last fall. You have long been one of my favorite authors because you have such a love of language that shines through in every word you write. It is intoxicating to read how you express your thoughts. Your writing style helps your readers to embrace your characters and your stories. I always feel as though I have learned something meaningful or that you have unlocked some of the mysteries of life. My Book Club will discuss MY READING LIFE tonight! I love your cookbook, too! I hope you enjoyed the cookbook, ROUX MEMORIES, that I gave to you at the signing. Thanks for many hours of reading pleasure, as I read and recommend your books!

As a Pat Conroy junkie, I am intralled by anything you write. When friends recommend books, I ask them one question - what books have you read by Pat Conroy? If they don't know you, no recommendations are considered. I would love to hear you speak, read from your books but you seem to only tour in the south. Some of us yankees also think we were Scarlett O'Hara in a previous life! We would show you the northern hospitality you so rightly deserve. Can't wait for the next book and the many more I am sure you will write.

Hi Pat, I must say, last Saturday at the Literary Society in Charleston was again, another highlight of hearing you read and share your life stories! My husband, daughter and I had a blast. Thank you for making me smile all over again; reminded of the joy, hilarity, and pain we all share in being human. I look forward to your return to Charleston after (Piccolo) :-) Spoletto! Tonight we are reuniting with cousins at the Peninsula Grill downtown. We have not seen them in 30 years. I am bringing them a copy of South of Broad. What better way to introduce these folks to Charleston? Cheers!

Dear Mr. Conroy
I have been reading all my life and has yet to discover another author whos prose touches me as deeply as yours.I am a walking library of Pat Conroy quotes.
Your gift is immense.
Thank you for sharing your hurt and laughter and passion with us all. Sorry for your pain.
My favourite sport these days is introducing the weary and bewildered to your books.
Kind Regards

Mr. Conroy,
After 3 pages Iwas terrified that you were revealing my childhood through Leo King. In so many ways you did, but the terror abated after 300 pages. Thank you for helping me to look a great number of things that would otherwise stayed dormant and buried. Oh, you also owe me about 15 hours of lost sleep!
Please eat well and exercise. I hope to read you for another 30 years.
Regards,
Pat
