The Prince of Tides was one of the best books I have ever read. It could have been written about my family. I especially identified with Tom and my sister was Savannah to a tee.

I identified several of my family members with the characters in the book and when I gave it to my sister to read, she got them spot on and agreed with me it was one of the best books ever written. High praise indeed coming from her.

I also thoroughly enjoyed The Great Santini.

I am deeply sad about two events-one being the sorrow of Mr. Conroy over his daughter and her absence in his life. The next is more personal-that I have not been in the presence of this writer who has touched my soul deeply. I hope future appearances will allow me to rest my eyes on him and know I have had my wish to thank him in person.

Mr. Conroy... I enjoyed meeting you several years ago at a book signing in Augusta, Ga. I have been reading your work since I was in 10th grade and am about to celebrate my 20th class reunion! I am so looking forward to you writing about teaching again as your book, The Water is Wide, inspired me as a teacher. I just reread parts of your cookbook today and if I don't hurry and get to Italy, I might just keel over!!! I was looking for something to cook to take on our family vacation next week! Keep writing because your words reach something deep inside all of us Southerners the way no other author can.

Just finished "My Reading Life" and am in love with it and the words within. Such fine craftsmanship of the English language... if only I could write like that!!

I have enjoyed reading all your books. It probably helps to be Irish Catholic to enjoy your humor. THE LORDS OF DISCIPLINE was insightful as I had three mids at USNA a while back.

First became aware of you when the priest of at my parish church, as part of a weekly discussion in a class, suggested that each of us read South of Broad. Since then I have read almost all of your books and now am reading The Water is Wide. I love your books and intend to read them all at least once.

Dear Pat,
I read "Beach Music" when it first came out and thought it was one of the best books I had ever read. I am now rereading it and it is amazingly still fresh and new. Sixteen years later and I think it is still one of the best! You are a master storyteller and know dysfunctional families better than anyone!
How about a follow up on Leah?
Debbie

Hello Pat,

I am an Italian author and I started reading your books after I saw The Prince of Tides movie. They comfort me so. I never thought I would hope my bus to work took longer than 1 hour so I could keep reading a novel. Or that a novel had to power to make me happy about travelling on a bus for ages on a Monday morning. I read them avidly and with love for your language, for the feelings you put on the page. I hunger for more of them. And I made the coconut cake from your cooking book, which was a success! And now I'm obsessed about visiting South Carolina. Thank you, very, very much.
Monica :)

I spent a wonderful evening listening to you share amazing stories from your life when you did a book signing at Garden District Books in New Orleans last fall. You have long been one of my favorite authors because you have such a love of language that shines through in every word you write. It is intoxicating to read how you express your thoughts. Your writing style helps your readers to embrace your characters and your stories. I always feel as though I have learned something meaningful or that you have unlocked some of the mysteries of life. My Book Club will discuss MY READING LIFE tonight! I love your cookbook, too! I hope you enjoyed the cookbook, ROUX MEMORIES, that I gave to you at the signing. Thanks for many hours of reading pleasure, as I read and recommend your books!
