I am thrilled to find this site & other Conroyian devotees. I am a Savannahian who also moved to Atlanta near Emory in the winter of 1973, so I am thrilled to know I was living close to you when you wrote THE GREAT SANTINI. I knew the old bookshop! I even worked on Briarcliff Rd. I have devoured every word you've written, Pat, & constantly long for more. I've never related as much to any author as I do you. I am a writer, thinly disguised as a nurse. I so much respect & appreciate your background & your innate ability & willingness to relay your live via book/poetry form. Long live the most powerful writer in my lifetime! I hope you are content. Breathe that east coast beach air for me!

I just finished Beach Music. Wow. What a gift you have given us. What characters. I laughed everytime those brothers opened their mouths. I cried when Jordan and his dad made up. You made me think about my relationship with my own son. And the next serious book I'm going to read will be about the Vietnam war. Thank you for this book Mr. Conroy. Thank you so much.

Just finished "South of Broad", and loved loved it. It spoke to me in sooo many ways. I refuse(d) to see the movie "Prince of Tides" because I loved the book so much. "The Water is Wide" taught me to really think about what goes on in parts of this country despite protestations to the contrary. I thank God so much for your talent and for your unique way of expressing the human condition.

Imagine my thrill on a trip to Finland to spend the day discussing Pat Conroy books with my American friend. We arrived at a Finish friends home in Lapland and low and behold - a bookshelf full of your books in Finish. It's a small world.

Pat, our son is getting married on beach POA #4 on Tuesday and we have a number of family members visiting the island who are fans of your since my introduction to them of your marvelous works.
Your books grace the bookshelves and are part of the back drop to the wedding cake/reception ceremony.
Please join us for an intimate ceremony and celebration at 6 pm and following back at the beach house! You would be delighted with our group. Later in the week we will be watching your movies and celebrating with a casual Pat Conroy trivia night.
Sincerely,
Gayla Thomas

I'm a little late in reading this, but Pat, Beach Music took my heart and soul on every turn imaginable. Thank you so much for a wonderful book.....I didn't want it to end. My son lives in Charleston and now when I visit, I will be looking for Leah and Jack, and of course John Hardin, around every corner!
