Pat you will be so deeply missed. Your books united us as a people. One of my favorite memories was reading The Water is Wide with my 18 year old son a few summers ago. We took turns reading it out loud to each other. You became a common author for us. My daughter was already a fan. I will bring them to Beaufort soon so they can see the beauty you wrote about. I know there will be a marsh in heaven...enjoy!

Thank you for sharing your blood and guts with all of us. I will miss you, your words, your strength, your wisdom. Your books have taught me, touched me, and inspired me, especially Beach Music. RIP...I hope you now find peace, Dear Pat.

Dear Pat, I am so grateful for your books and interviews over the many years. As a former Marine, I knew several Santinis. Your heartfelt sharing of family and place (South Carolina) always made grabbing your latest book a must! Rest well...I hope your are swapping stories with Lt. Col. Courvoisie ("The Boo") and you know how much you have meant and continue to mean to so many people. Thank You seems so inadequate...

I work in a bookstore here in Mt. Pleasant & Sunday morning, such a tribute to Mr. Conroy - throngs of people scoured our shelves & lined up to order his books. I venture to say that 80% of those buying Pat's books told me they already owned ALL of them, but needed to pay their respects, to connect & hear him again, to celebrate his life in the 'church of his words, a bookstore'. You've left too soon & there's a palpable loneliness, but your words will always remind us we have a friend close by - Godspeed Prince.

I read Pat Conroy's novels when I was deployed to Iraq. After I read Great Santini I knew that I was not the only one who had a love hate relationship with my dad. His other books and speeches helped me repaired my relationship with my dad. I love every book he wrote. I take annual trips to Beaufort, Charleston, and other areas that he wrote in his book, just to see the beauty of the land that was so well captured in his prose. I will truly miss a great writer and a great inspiration to American literature.

After reading BEACH MUSIC, I wandered no more. I returned home to Savannah to live after 30 years away. Thank you for the reminder that the marsh is home. Peace be with your soul. The PC Exhibition st USC is a wonderful experience.

"Beach Music". Thank you, Pat Conroy. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I read it every summer - sometimes I read parts aloud just to hear the music in the words. You will be greatly missed.
