You will be missed. Your gift of writing with such command of the language will not be outdone. I reread and fall in love with your books every time I read them. I will treasure them and think of you. Thank you for sharing your gifts with all of us.

After reading BEACH MUSIC, I wandered no more. I returned home to Savannah to live after 30 years away. Thank you for the reminder that the marsh is home. Peace be with your soul. The PC Exhibition st USC is a wonderful experience.

We have enjoyed all of Pat's books. He was such a great writer. He could reach from the book and touch the reader as if he knew you. Pat will be missed!

"Beach Music". Thank you, Pat Conroy. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I read it every summer - sometimes I read parts aloud just to hear the music in the words. You will be greatly missed.

As I reread Beach Music, I am forever thankful for your books. I love them all and I have them all. Thank you for writing and talking about Dafuskie Island, I truly love the island. You will never be forgotten and your books will be our keepsake of you. RIP Mr Conroy.

I loved Pat Conroy. I was so lucky to be a tiny part of his life. He came to the book festival every year in Columbia SC and I always was blessed to work with him. He was the most humble and sweetest man I ever work with. His family were always there to share wonderful and funny stories of their lives growing up together. I consider him part of my Military family because he went to The Citadel with my brother-in-law.My Marine also attended the Citadel. RIP PAT CONROY. Your personal stories will be missed.

I have always and will continue to give copies of Beach Music to people to enjoy such an incredible tale - My all-time favorite book. My thoughts go out to the family - I just found out this morning and was both immediately startled and saddened by Pat's passing. His books meant a lot to me, it also made my father's life make sense as his father was so like Santini... he and Pat would have had a lot to chat about..... I am going to go reflect and wrap my head around the fact that there will not be another book coming..... I am very sad.

Mr. Conroy & family, my heart is bit broken, yet still remains full with your amazing tales. You, Mr. Conroy, gave me reading. Despite being considered 'very smart,' I was in my mid 20's and had managed to read only 1 book cover to cover (Little House in the Big Woods) thanks to an unconquered ADD attention span. Despite this, I wanted to love reading, just couldn't figure out how. One evening during an outing to a local bookstore with friends where we would spend hours, I stumbled across a book that caught my attention for no apparent reason. I couldn't put it down. My 'reading-block' was conquered, reading was now my passion. Sherman may have given Savannah to a love, but Pat Conroy, gave me reading. There are no words that can thank you enough for this wonderful gift.

Surely the Low Country skies must have wept Friday at the tremendous loss of this poet, this sculptor of words, this architect of language. You offered the world a remarkable gift as you chronicled your own exploration of familial devastation and your journey towards repair, towards rebuilding. As a fellow Southerner-by-Choice, I have found profound comfort and inspiration in the images you have painted with your lyricism of our beleaguered and beautiful southland. As a fellow child of Santini, I am deeply moved by your courage and undaunting commitment to blazing your own fiery trail towards peace. Pat, you have given me a multitude of reminders of the ways that nature offers us a healing balm. I am forever grateful to the universe for the gift of your soul.
