I have read every Conroy book and he continues to drop my jaw. I read slow ... because I reread and savor every passage. I will never finish reading "My Reading Life." It is exquisite. He weaves one story into the next. His mother's reading convinced me to finally read "Gone with the Wind"... his account of meeting the poet laureate ... his generous sharing of his struggles. I quote him so often, my book club is fond of saying to me: What would Pat Conroy say? I always have my copy of "My Reading Life" at hand. His description of his library ... and the inspiration he draws from other authors and poets made me sigh.

Your books; the language and images help to put words to many of my every day experiences. Thank you. Wish someone else other than Streisand had done Prince of Tides. Enjoyed the "movie" in my mind much better than what she did and butchered.

Just completed "MY Reading Life"... Wow, Mr. Conroy, whether you ever read this or not, I just had to "stand, and salute you" for many reasons; one being the amazing ability to breathe life into the characters of your life... (New York Bookstore, Eugene Norris,etc...) Deeply awe-inspiring, enviable and memorable!

Thiis evening, I read the first chapter to "My Reading Life." The first book I am reading by Pat Conroy, and I am in admiration and in love with the person Mr. Conroy is, and the rich life he and his mother lived in the company of books. I judge books by their cover, I just picked up "My Reading Life" by Pat Conroy off the shelf on a whim. I am very grateful I did. LOVE

Mr. Conroy: I just finished "The Water is Wide": the only title of yours I had not yet read. It was simply superb; so powerful in fact that it moved me to visit "Yamacraw" recently. Do you have any information regarding how the lives of any of your beloved students have turned out? I do think about those students as I too was an eighth grader in 1969, although in an institution that, in so many ways, could not have been further from your simple white schoolhouse on the Sound. Thank you very much for your continuing outstanding contribution to our literary lives.

I attended Gonzaga High School, was friend of Chris Warner, was present at the assembly when you received your basketball letter and were decked twice by your father. Would love to talk to you!

I am in Charleston... and I love it! It has been on my "bucket list" to visit since I read South of Broad. I keep looking for Leo Bloom and Molly Huger in everyone I see on the street. Thank you for allowing me to explore this city through your marvoulous books... it is awesome to see the sights in person. I have read and reread all of your books several times... thank you for your amazing novels.

It's been a few years since reading South of Broad, yet it's still with me, one of my favorite reads. Love Charleston and the descriptions of Charleston in South of Broad are so visual! Wonderful characters and story!
