Pat, I had a ticket for tomorrow's Town Hall in Tulsa but had to give it away because a call to wifely duties came first. So I gave your ticket to an elderly coach who wanted to hear you speak because he had read, My Losing Season.

I am currently reading your cookbook. I knew it would be wonderful and it is. I, too, love to cook. I am Italian, second generation, but I have a coveted recipe for Italian meatballs that is exactly as my grandmother made them. All I can say about them is that they are unforgetable!! And they are highly requested by friends and relatives.

If you would like, I will be happy to send you the recipe. Welcome to Tulsa. I have read you very much liked being there. I think you have the capacity to enjoy life wherever you are. God bless!! Mari

I just bought "The Prince of Tides" for $1 at the Salvation Army. It is in perfect condition. Not a first edition. But here is the exciting part, it is autographed!!! and personalized!! " for the love of great daughters" it says. At the bottom of the autograph is a drawing of a tiny dolphin jumping with a tiny man straddleing it with a tiny spyglass held to his eye. Or it might be a tiny wine bottle held to his mouth. I would love more information on the dolphin. The autograph is clearly written in fountain pen as is the dolphin. It's beautiful.

There is an interesting article in the Montgomery County MD Gazette about Joseph Monte who was Pat’s mentor in high school at Gonzaga in Washington DC. He is 80 yrs. old and still working in a school in Montgomery County MD. I think Pat would be interested in the story!!

In Fall of 1995, I came to Parris Island, the young wife of a newly stationed Drill Instructor. We had just completed a tour in Naples, Italy where I had the opportunity to return to college and continue that wonderful journey that rewarded me with an incredible love of South Carolina; a BA from USCB and little did I know just how many times I passed you at the Firehouse Cafe or casually strolling in the Historic District. You won my heart and all that comes with it. You currently have literally saved my sanity as I found myself unable to return to the States because of major back surgery. My hometown is Tulsa, Ok and I grieve that I am going to miss that opportunity. Maybe I will have the blessing of bumpin into you again in Beaufort. This time, I will introduce myself: Blessings

I have read every Conroy book and he continues to drop my jaw. I read slow ... because I reread and savor every passage. I will never finish reading "My Reading Life." It is exquisite. He weaves one story into the next. His mother's reading convinced me to finally read "Gone with the Wind"... his account of meeting the poet laureate ... his generous sharing of his struggles. I quote him so often, my book club is fond of saying to me: What would Pat Conroy say? I always have my copy of "My Reading Life" at hand. His description of his library ... and the inspiration he draws from other authors and poets made me sigh.

Your books; the language and images help to put words to many of my every day experiences. Thank you. Wish someone else other than Streisand had done Prince of Tides. Enjoyed the "movie" in my mind much better than what she did and butchered.

Just completed "MY Reading Life"... Wow, Mr. Conroy, whether you ever read this or not, I just had to "stand, and salute you" for many reasons; one being the amazing ability to breathe life into the characters of your life... (New York Bookstore, Eugene Norris,etc...) Deeply awe-inspiring, enviable and memorable!

Thiis evening, I read the first chapter to "My Reading Life." The first book I am reading by Pat Conroy, and I am in admiration and in love with the person Mr. Conroy is, and the rich life he and his mother lived in the company of books. I judge books by their cover, I just picked up "My Reading Life" by Pat Conroy off the shelf on a whim. I am very grateful I did. LOVE
