I have read all your books. Thank you for so many enriched experiences. The South comes alive on your pages. This New Englander is ever so appreciative. It seems the film of The Water is Wide, Conrack is not available in DVD. I have looked in all of the usual places. Do you know where it could be purchased? Many of us are patiently awaiting another book. Is there one forthcoming?

Greetings Mr Conroy, I first discovered your writings with the Lords Of Disipline and was hooked. Read all of your books. We met at a little used book store named "The Book Lady" in Savanah in1990. You were, like me digging for treasure in the little store. We sat on a bench in the rear of the store and talked. You said you were living in San Francisco and were driving a Volvo 240. I was also driving a Volvo so we talked cars a bit. I was living in Huntsville, AL at the time. I found a dog eared copy of The Water is Wide and you signed it " To Hal - for the love of books" Pat Conroy. I treasured that book and the experience of meeting and talking with you. The book and most everything else I owned was washed away by Hurricane Ivan in 2004. The experience is indelible. Thanks Hal

Just finished SOUTH OF BROAD - what a powerful narrative. I went to the Citadel of the north (USMA, 1975) and I have greatly appreciated your descriptions of the Citadel. And as a strabismus specialist, your description of "wall-eye" is very accurate.

Just finished the Water is Wide and Lords of Discipline for a second time each. I read your books over and over. They miraculously take me to places where I need to go during certain times in my life. It is amazing what I take from each book when read over and over. I always see something new and have a new "ah ha moment" during each journey. Thanks for the entertainment, the life lessons and for taking me "home" any time I need to go. Bless your heart...

South of Broad is your best yet!!! An incredible book with amazing characters. Rarely do I believe a movie can do justice to a book, but in this case I believe it could be amazing... Please!!!!

"South of Broad" was a truly wonderful book. It's characters haunted me for days afterward. That would be the good type of haunting! Recently my "college-maters" (class of 75) organized a min-reunion in Charleston! I am going! How I wish you would be doing a book signing there. I am still packing my first edition copy. I have been known to read to them in the past!
Thank you and keep writing!

Practicing in the cold dark, 1 hr 40 minutes alone sick sad with a grudge next to Frfx cnty police station & St. Leo's H.S., Thanks for getting me to buy my first basketball, softball, bat, glove AND actually play at age 50+. You took to time to help someone who never was on the courts with any teen ball players playing a ball game; thanks you didn't have to!

I visited Charleston for four years, the days before the sub base moved to King's Bay. The city claimed a part of me then. Do you ever sign books above Mason Dixon? My copy of South of Broad is waiting in Minneapolis.

Jay Javetz for Harold JavetzSavannah Ga

Hi Mr. Conroy,

My name is Jay Javetz and my father was a graduate of the Citadel in 1958. One of his best friends was Bill Warner as they both shared a passion for cars! My father passed away a few weeks ago. He left me a copy of "The Boo" that was signed by Boo himself. He always had the intention of getting you to sign the book also and I would like to fulfill this for him. Will you be attending any book signing events in the near future? If not, I would love to drive to Charleston and meet you. I look forward to hearing from you. With much thanks, Jay Javetz
