Pat, I enjoyed reading your latest book "Death of the Great Santini" as it reminded me, as all your work has, of my father and mother. I'm glad you're done writing about them, I think it's time for me to put them to rest as well. Thanks again and God Speed!

I picked up "The Death of Santini" on Sat, Feb 1 and it is now almost 5pm on Sunday and I am almost finished. I am touched by all of your books , but most affedted as I read about Tom, for I have a friend of over 50 years deteriorating with paranoid schizophrenia and I am feeling the hopelesness of being able to help. Your words are so powerful. Thank you.

Mr. Conroy, It is a pleasure to read your books. Emotional brain food of epic proportions. Word & phrases now mashed into daily language. Like the old song goes:"my heart there rings a melody of love." Love for Pat Conroy's gift of sharing his journey.

I recently read Death of Santini and found it to be just as wonderful, although sad, as your other books. You are definitely one of my favorite writers and I hope you continue to write more books, even if you don't write anymore about your family. Reading the Death of Santini brought back wonderful memories for me because I lived in Beaufort from 1980 to 1983 and thought it was one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. I know I truly loved living there and hated to leave, but my husband was military and we had to move on. I'm now married to someone else and he is reading Death of Santini and we talk about it because he is enjoying the book too. I'm hoping we decide to make a trip to Beaufort, so I can show him what a beautiful place it is.

I have read all your books. I can hardly put your work down once I start reading. Just recently found your cookbook (so I really have read them all.) You are a South Carolina treasure. I cannot wait for a new book. Sorry for the loss of your father. You are a great son. Thank you for loving your mother so much. I am so proud to be a part of your generation.

I recently read "The Death of Santini" and just wanted to say thanks, Mr. Conroy. You are one of the few authors whose books I cannot wait to start and then almost cannot bear to finish. Your life and writings have definitely enriched my own. I always will regret having been so slack-jawed the day I met you at a book signing nearly a decade ago in Miami. You stood up, stuck out your hand, and said quite matter-of-factly, "Hi, I'm Pat Conroy." I was so dumbstruck by your straightforwardness and common decency that my wife had to carry me through the rest of the conversation. It was pretty embarrassing to be rendered speechless by someone whose characters are always so quick-witted; but, if nothing else, it has made for a good memory. Thanks for writing another great one!

You gave my first graduation speech (new PhD, first job) at the College of Charleston. In my 13-year tenure there you were the best speaker. You spoke of your southern upbringing and your beloved mother. I also had the privilege of working with Zoe and Alex Sanders. They always spoke fondly of you. The judge was thrilled to perform the marriage ceremony for you and Cassandra. I am blessed to have heard your speech, read all of your books, and followed your career from afar. My best years at the College were working with the Sanders.
My prayers are with you for good health and happiness.

When I read Beach Music, I wondered how you knew my mother...:) A powerful book - one of my most favorites. Thanks!
