I recently read Death of Santini and found it to be just as wonderful, although sad, as your other books. You are definitely one of my favorite writers and I hope you continue to write more books, even if you don't write anymore about your family. Reading the Death of Santini brought back wonderful memories for me because I lived in Beaufort from 1980 to 1983 and thought it was one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. I know I truly loved living there and hated to leave, but my husband was military and we had to move on. I'm now married to someone else and he is reading Death of Santini and we talk about it because he is enjoying the book too. I'm hoping we decide to make a trip to Beaufort, so I can show him what a beautiful place it is.

I have read all your books. I can hardly put your work down once I start reading. Just recently found your cookbook (so I really have read them all.) You are a South Carolina treasure. I cannot wait for a new book. Sorry for the loss of your father. You are a great son. Thank you for loving your mother so much. I am so proud to be a part of your generation.

I recently read "The Death of Santini" and just wanted to say thanks, Mr. Conroy. You are one of the few authors whose books I cannot wait to start and then almost cannot bear to finish. Your life and writings have definitely enriched my own. I always will regret having been so slack-jawed the day I met you at a book signing nearly a decade ago in Miami. You stood up, stuck out your hand, and said quite matter-of-factly, "Hi, I'm Pat Conroy." I was so dumbstruck by your straightforwardness and common decency that my wife had to carry me through the rest of the conversation. It was pretty embarrassing to be rendered speechless by someone whose characters are always so quick-witted; but, if nothing else, it has made for a good memory. Thanks for writing another great one!

You gave my first graduation speech (new PhD, first job) at the College of Charleston. In my 13-year tenure there you were the best speaker. You spoke of your southern upbringing and your beloved mother. I also had the privilege of working with Zoe and Alex Sanders. They always spoke fondly of you. The judge was thrilled to perform the marriage ceremony for you and Cassandra. I am blessed to have heard your speech, read all of your books, and followed your career from afar. My best years at the College were working with the Sanders.
My prayers are with you for good health and happiness.

When I read Beach Music, I wondered how you knew my mother...:) A powerful book - one of my most favorites. Thanks!

You are my favorite author. I love your prose and honesty. I feel as though I should write down many of the things you write, so as not to forget. There are too many! Meeting you is on my bucket list, so I hope to make that happen one day. I am always waiting for your next book.

I lived in Charleston most of my life and have read every book you ever wrote. You have helped me sp much with my oen dysfunctional family, as a Navy brat. Just finished your latest, and as as a decendant of the Irish, hope you have read "The Great Hunger " I made a special trip to Beaufort and even have visited your father's grave. Cannot tell you how much I admire your writing. Can we blame your gift for words on your Irish blood?

Pat--please come to Honolulu. I will host you. I love The Death of Santini. Loved... every... word. When I saw the movie, The Great Santini I knew someone in the world knew the Dad I grew up with. My Dad is German--same macho stuff and my Dad was a pilot. I am a psychoanalyst now and I just love your truth telling.
