I have read all of your works; Beach Music brought me to tears, South of Broad engaged me to greatest lengths. You are a master and I thank you for your words, prose and stories. I feel your characters and love them.

Mr. Conroy, I am wishing you the best in your battle against cancer. Your Prince of Tides changed my life, as it finally helped me make sense of my own family. I always tell people that if they want to understand me, to read Prince of Tides, as almost everything that happened in that book happened to me as well (with the exception of the tiger). God bless you and prayers for your coming journey.

Pat, I am so sorry about your diagnosis. I pray for you during this fight. I have read your books for years and have even taught some. You have been a fabulous inspiration to me and to those who want to learn the gift of storytelling. I pray for complete healing. God bless you.

I love your books. You speak to my heart and your words open worlds I may never see. Through you, I have seen the massive manta rays, I have walked the beaches in California, I have played basketball. Thank you for putting your amazing talent on paper! God bless and keep you through your illness, and I pray His love will carry you through!

Pat, I have loved you and followed you since 1974. Every word you have written is etchd on my heart and brain (yes, I know several passages from your writings by heart.) I love them all but the Book by far has the very best stories. I pray for your comfort and strength. You have given me a great reading life.

You, sir, are a gentleman and a scholar. I dare say, from reading every one of your books, you are a fighter as well. Your prose and magnificent descriptions attest to that strength, and please know that I join thousands in wishing you well in a victorious battle. Armor up, rest up, keep that body and beloved mind of yours sharp for the next great novel. We can't wait to read your words again. I had the good fortune to meet you once, and I look forward to seeing you and your charming self again! You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Pat:
Just heard about your cancer diagnosis and want you to know that I am praying for you. Prince of Tidesis one of my favorite novels. The prose in your Prologue is exquisite. I can smell the salt marsh from your description and reading about oysters made me go out and buy some on the half shell! Hope you know the Lord and believe in prayer, too. In Revelations 5:8 it says that there are golden bowls full of incense in heaven, which are the prayers of the saints. Wow!
How special is that! You can fight the cancer and be healed. OK?

Dear Sir,

I came to know your books by accident, picking up Beach Music on Heathrow Airport in 1996 en route from Amsterdam to Porltland (Ore). The flight was delayed for hours, but i never minded, as i was loving your book. I have reread it umpteen times, loving the discription of Rome, how to raise a child as a single parent and love in a disfunctionalish family. I later read more of your books, but Beach Music remains a firm favourite. I was saddened to read of your illness, and wish you all the best. Your books have given and will continue to give me enormous pleasure and teach me time and time again on history and how to treat people. For that I thank you wholeheartedly.

Pat, like you I am a Southerner. Your books have truly enriched my life! In the mid 1990's, you visited Hilton Head for a book signing. I owned none yet but an Atlanta friend had loaned me Beach Music. Knowing Mark would enjoy having it autographed and I could buy one for myself, I stood in line outside with a zillion other fans. But once inside the host bookstore, ALL of your books were out of stock including paperbacks! When my turn came to meet you, you said I did not look like a "Mark; I explained the autograph was for my friend, and you wrote something like "Mark, Diane is a good friend and you owe her big time". He was so delighted with his signed book!
I pray for your speedy recovery and for your family and friends. I look forward to your next book. Blessings, Diane
