Pat, you said you have another novel in you and your readers will hold you to that promise. I hope you beat this cancer like it owes you money! Sending prayers and healing to you from Nashville by a transplant who is originally from Beaufort.

Mr. Conroy, I have been a fan of your books for a long time and was sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I wish I had your gift of prose to write something memorable as you have in so many of your books, but my talent does not lie there. However, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Dear Mr. Conroy, I am wishing you all the best in your battle against cancer. You are without a doubt my favorite author, and I have waited, sometimes with great impatience, for each of your new novels. And I was never disappointed! I'm not usually one to post on a forum like this, but when I read the news I felt like I had to send you my best wishes. You have many fans out here who are praying for your recovery, and also thinking of your family and friends during this very difficult time. God bless and stay strong Mr. Conroy!

My english is not very good, but I really want to tell you this...today I found The Prince of Tides in my dad's old bookshelf, and I'm so glad that I choose this book. This is my new favorite book, it's been so long since the last time I read something like this. It was really beautiful. The book is older than me but I just love it so much, and I only read the indonesian-translated version.

My heart is so sad knowing you are going through this. Posted on your FB page and want you to know our dear friend survived pancreatic cancer 30 years ago and is doing well today. Please email me if you would like to talk with him. A miracle for sure. You are my favorite author. I met you in Billings and you were so gracious at your book signing and gave me good advice about having courage in writing. You are in my heart and prayers.

Dear Mr. Conroy: I have found great inspiration in every one of your works that I have read. The Water is Wide was particularly inspiring to me and served as a touchstone in my 5 1/2 years teaching high school equivalency in a medium security prison. My sister is also an avid reader, and I look forward to her reaction after she finishes reading My Reading Life. Your works have also made Lowcountry South Carolina my favorite place to vacation. You and Lords of Discipline are ever on my mind and in my heart when my wife and I take our yearly trip to Charleston. Godspeed and love to you during this new chapter of your life. Know that your work and uncompromising practice of the craft have inspired me. Thank you, Patroy Conrack. With warmest and highest regards, Alan Gruver

Healing. God heals. I don't understand the why's of suffering, or why prayer is answered in ways that are not always comprehendable. Still, I believe in prayer. I will pray for your healing and comfort. For so long I have wished to share my story with you about my southern daddy - a railroad man - full of both love and hate. Selfishly, I hope you recover soon and one day we bump into each other so that I can introduce you to a character you may one day wish to explore.
