The first Pat Conroy book I read was "The Citadel," and I couldn't put it down. After that I made it a point to read every book I could find by you. "The Citadel" is still my favorite, but they're all wonderful. It's the writing style that grabs me. It makes one feel the story. I'm so sorry to hear of your illness. I will pray for you.

There is no one, Pat, who has ever told the excruciating stories of the soul and family with as direct and poetic a voice as yours. Your work is healing to read, and as a writer, I often wonder if I will ever be moved or courageous enough to tell my own similar family narrative. I join everyone who knows you in the vision of your excellent health. You are far from finished with this world, and we are not anywhere near ready to lose you. Much love and better days for you, Cheryl Pappas

Prayers and good karma coming to you Mr. Conroy. I have faith in the power of positive thinking. I wish you good health, love and comfort. I have loved your books for years, reading several more than once. I began by highlighting my favorite phrases, but my entire book ended up yellow and I had to give it up. You are wonderful!! Don't give up the fight!

Pat, you said you have another novel in you and your readers will hold you to that promise. I hope you beat this cancer like it owes you money! Sending prayers and healing to you from Nashville by a transplant who is originally from Beaufort.

Mr. Conroy, I have been a fan of your books for a long time and was sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I wish I had your gift of prose to write something memorable as you have in so many of your books, but my talent does not lie there. However, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Dear Mr. Conroy, I am wishing you all the best in your battle against cancer. You are without a doubt my favorite author, and I have waited, sometimes with great impatience, for each of your new novels. And I was never disappointed! I'm not usually one to post on a forum like this, but when I read the news I felt like I had to send you my best wishes. You have many fans out here who are praying for your recovery, and also thinking of your family and friends during this very difficult time. God bless and stay strong Mr. Conroy!

My english is not very good, but I really want to tell you this...today I found The Prince of Tides in my dad's old bookshelf, and I'm so glad that I choose this book. This is my new favorite book, it's been so long since the last time I read something like this. It was really beautiful. The book is older than me but I just love it so much, and I only read the indonesian-translated version.
