Oh dear Mr Conroy! I am so very sorry to hear this news! I brought my 26 yr. old, 2nd yr. English teacher daughter, Savannah to your 70th Birthday Party. (She was the beautiful red head you so graciously posed with for a giddy momma!) Your party and meeting you was her Birthday present. Please know we are women of faith and I promise we will be praying for you, your family, and for the journey you face. May God hold you ever so closely

Mr. Conroy, you are in my thoughts and prayers each day. Your books are sitting on top of my bookshelf for friends and family as they enter the front door. They can look but these books aren't allowed to leave my home. Thank you so very much for the enjoyment and pleasure of reading your books. I am very much anticipating seeing a new book in the bookstores as soon as you are able. I pray for your courage and healing and I am very optimistic for you.

Hi Pat, I really wanted to visit during your birthday festivities and meet you in person. I didn't get the opportunity, and I'm sorry for that. I love your books, your wit and humor, and your ability to write about your family with both pride and brutal truth. Get well, Pat! We're all rooting for you!

Pat, you are my alltime favorite author. I grew up in Belmont, remember you so well when you were at St. Leo's & would go to Watkins Pharmacy after school. All the girls swooned over the cadets in uniform and especially you. Sooo handsome! Keeping you in prayers.

I cannot begin to tell you how much I admire, and have enjoyed all of your books. One sentence can transport me to the low country without leaving home. Thank you for your candor, and for pouring all of your unapologetically southern soul into all of those many pages. Your body of work is both a regional, and a national treasure. My prayers are with you at this difficult time, and with your wife and family. I can't wait to read your next book, I know you'll get there. God bless you, Pat Conroy, you are a poet, and true son of the south.

Dear Pat, Butch and I have been thinking about you and remembering all the Old New York Bookshop exploits. We send our love and prayers for your recovery. Like you, we have fought the battle that is cancer with our loved ones. We have learned to relish each precious day, and I know that you too have learned that lesson well. Keep the faith, Marsha

Mr. Conroy, I owe you a lot. If not for you, my first novel, A Chance to Say Yes, might never have been written, much less published. I acknowledged you in my book because years ago, at the Miami Book Fair, you gave me words of encouragement that have never left me. You told me not to let anyone tell me I couldn't be a writer--and I haven't. Now I wish you all the love and support in the world. Bless you in your time of trial. Keep your thoughts high.

Dr. William Wilson practiced psychology at Duke Hospital for many years. He retired and several years later he became very ill. Was taken to Hospice to die. His local patience surrounded his bed and prayed for several weeks. Miraculously her recovered. Returned home and lived 5 years. We upir readers are praying for your recovery.
