Mr. Conroy:

My undying gratitude for your work--and you seem to have a new book each time I reach a milestone or I am confronted with a fork in life's road. I turned 35 today....it is 3 a.m., and I have just finished the last sip of cabernet and the last word in 'South of Broad'....I will be thinking about every syllable until well past 36. As with every book you have written, I have laughed until I cried, and cried until I thought my heart would break. From the bottom of my heart--thank you; you make the world a better place.

My heart's deepest gratitude for your work. I needed nourishment just as "South of Broad" came along. I read your earlier works to my son as a young man. Just sent "The Water is Wide" to a young friend teaching in rural India with a Principal who stepped right out of that book. You have given so much to my life. May yours be filled with love and appreciation.
You have my gratitude for soul nourishment.

Hi Pat, Just finished your new book and I was so sad it ended! It's the kind of book you don't want to end. The characters were so real, too. I just loved "South of Broad." Thanks for the great book.

The only "bad" part of reading "South of Broad" is that it had to end! I devoured this book with absolute joy! I have always found that, when a new book from you comes out, everything else in my life gets put on hold until completion of your book. Once again, you outdid yourself and I wait, yet again, for the next book!

South of Broad is a wonderful read. I haven't finished yet it because I'm savoring every word. Reading a Conroy novel for the first time has always been a spiritual experience for me and this time is no different. Every word is heaven.

Just finished South of Broad and loved it as much as all your other books.
I hope you are hard at work on your next nove.
Just wondering if you are a fan of the old TV show Fraser? Fraser and Niles Crane?

Mr. Conroy: I've just finished reading South of Broad, and while I need to re-read this incredible novel, I will be taking my copy to the public library this afternoon so that others can share the emotional pleasures of this outstanding work. Thank you so much.

Your prose is poetry...

And knowing every street, store, and mansion mentioned made it all the more interesting. I think it's time to take a walk downtown again and discover the beauty and mysteries that I so often take for granted... Thank you!

Just finished South of Broad. How wonderfully expressive is your writing! I got lost in that book for two days, and left the dust bunnies pilel up, and the meals uneaten, and the garden unweeded. What a trip!! Please, please keep writing! You are a joy to great prose lovers everywhere!
Please come to Vermont in the Fall! We would love to see you and meet you here!
