You have my everlasting gratitude because your books have inspired, encouraged, enlightened, and challenged my life so much. As a college student, The Water is Wide inspired me to teach for 30 years. My high school students read many of your books in my Southern History/Culture class. Many became lifelong readers as a result. My husband and I attended the gathering in B'ham and were so glad to see and hear you and your lovely wife, and Rick Bragg. Thank you for writing about our beloved South - warts and all. You are truly a gifted person. You have brought such joy to so many. It is my wish that your life is filled with good health, much happiness and peace. Best wishes!

I was given a copy of Prince of Tides by a good friend in 1990 and I have loved Pat Conroy's novels ever since. I have undoubtedly read Prince of Tides a dozen or more times and Beach Music a half a dozen easily.

I am about 1/3 way with South of Broad and I can already tell that it is another that I will re-read for years to come.

Thank you for your writing, Pat Conroy...please don't ever stop writing!

I mentioned this on the Amazon thread, but I always think of you as Patconroy . . . so greetings from Kuwait Patconroy, I just got South of Broad and am thrilled that our weekend is Friday and Saturday. I plan to spend most of that time reading the book with Little Feet's Waiting for Columbus blaring in the background and reminding myself why I am lucky to be a southerner! Thanks for the inspiration. All the best, Sue

I am in the middle of South of Broad and I love it, I am savoring every word. I have read every Pat Conroy novel and he never fails to deliver the most colorful characters and southern plots immaganiable. There is a little of my family in every book he has ever written. Another fabulous read.

Mr. Conroy:

My undying gratitude for your work--and you seem to have a new book each time I reach a milestone or I am confronted with a fork in life's road. I turned 35 today....it is 3 a.m., and I have just finished the last sip of cabernet and the last word in 'South of Broad'....I will be thinking about every syllable until well past 36. As with every book you have written, I have laughed until I cried, and cried until I thought my heart would break. From the bottom of my heart--thank you; you make the world a better place.

My heart's deepest gratitude for your work. I needed nourishment just as "South of Broad" came along. I read your earlier works to my son as a young man. Just sent "The Water is Wide" to a young friend teaching in rural India with a Principal who stepped right out of that book. You have given so much to my life. May yours be filled with love and appreciation.
You have my gratitude for soul nourishment.

Hi Pat, Just finished your new book and I was so sad it ended! It's the kind of book you don't want to end. The characters were so real, too. I just loved "South of Broad." Thanks for the great book.

The only "bad" part of reading "South of Broad" is that it had to end! I devoured this book with absolute joy! I have always found that, when a new book from you comes out, everything else in my life gets put on hold until completion of your book. Once again, you outdid yourself and I wait, yet again, for the next book!

South of Broad is a wonderful read. I haven't finished yet it because I'm savoring every word. Reading a Conroy novel for the first time has always been a spiritual experience for me and this time is no different. Every word is heaven.

Just finished South of Broad and loved it as much as all your other books.
I hope you are hard at work on your next nove.
Just wondering if you are a fan of the old TV show Fraser? Fraser and Niles Crane?
